Dear friends of our community,

the year is coming to an end. As always, shortly before Christmas, I would like to use these lines to show you and your families the developments in the community for this and the future year.
Our community continued to develop positively in 2023. We overcame the energy problems of last winter well together and can now look forward to many bright lights in the dark season again. Our fire department and the old horse stable in Bröbberow shine particularly beautifully.
This year we once again had to master a lot of construction work and value preservation. The complete renovation of a community apartment in the Zollhaus in Groß Grenz was one of these projects. We have worked through outstanding issues at the fire department building and the cultural association “Kiek-In” has moved into its new home in the new fire department building. As a major measure, we were able to progress the paving of the fire department forecourt at the end of the year. This place will certainly be a suitable place for beautiful village festivals in the future. The Bröbberower footpath on the main street to the town exit is still in the plan with the highest priority and is to be completed after the paving of the fire station as the most important project for the safety of the residents. Weather permitting, we continue there.
Fiber optic cable expansion was carried out in areas with weak broadband coverage. The earthworks and cabling have largely been completed.
A new cycle path from Schwaan to Ziesendorf is being built on the state road. Our safe connection will be guaranteed at the intersection towards Benitz via a traffic light. Bus stops are also being built there with the financial participation of the communities.
After taking over the Kindergarten “An der Beke” at the beginning of the year, the complete remunicipalization of the facility has now been completed. In addition to installing a new kitchen, a number of other modernization works were carried out so that the spatial conditions for children and employees are constantly improving. The sporting activities in the community center in the evenings have become very well established. There is always the opportunity for anyone interested to organize leisure activities on the community's premises.
The roof of the clay oven was repaired and the oven itself was used several times a year to bake pizza and bread. This option is also open to all residents of the community.
The community workers work hard to maintain and repair all of the facilities. All areas such as playgrounds and relaxation areas, the glass containers, the roadsides, the public green and much more, require constant attention.
As a look ahead to 2024, we have our eye on the fire extinguishing pond/village pond in Klein Grenz. Funding for the fundamental renovation has been applied for. Planning for the implementation of our municipal technical hall is still ongoing. We'll stay tuned and see when finances make such a project possible. The need for repairs to the street lighting was complex and time-consuming. A complete switch to LED lamps has taken place, but the final repair of some defective systems is still pending, which should be done as quickly as possible.
With the fire department, the KiekIn cultural association, the church support association and many other initiatives, life in our community was once again very colorful this year. Many thanks to everyone active!!!
It is good to see that residents are actively involved in community life. Thank you for that.

for their energy, reliability and the trust they have shown.

Bröbberow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Deutschland gewinnt den Europäischen Dorferneuerungspreis für besondere Leistungen in einzelnen oder mehreren Bereichen der Dorfentwicklung, die Begründung lautet: 
Der Gemeinde ist es auf beeindruckende Weise gelungen, eine neue dörfliche Gemeinschaft aufzubauen und mit umfassenden ökonomischen, sozialen und ökologischen Qualitäten auszustatten

Due to the fact that our community belongs to the Schwaan office, the only former »artists' colony in Mecklenburg, our ideas about the careful economic and tourist development in the area of ​​the Beketal (tributary of the Warnow near Rostock) are very important to us.
The district of Groß Grenz was painted several times by the artists of the artists' colony because of the historical buildings and the »church from the 14th century. The sensitive restorations, the thatched Low German hall house with ancillary building (17th century), the »old dairy, the former village school, the old syringe house (all 19th century), the customs house (18th century) as a residential building and of course ours The community center are important milestones in village renewal for our community.

The multitude of well-preserved and interesting farms in small and large Grenz always invites you to take an interesting walk. The redesign of the former »manor complex in Bröbberow is a priority task for the coming years.
The new fire brigade building is available to the fire fighters, the “Kiek In” cultural association and the residents of the community for public life.
The community is located directly on the "Europe - Copenhagen - Berlin Cycle Route", which is very popular. Should our beautiful landscape invite one or the other cyclist to a longer stay - no problem - we have various accommodations and »holiday apartments on offer.
In the municipality of Bröbberow, great importance is attached to the restoration and sensitive maintenance of the village ponds, field hedges, avenues, wetlands, the Beke river valley and the »Sölle. They are supposed to create natural habitats and improve the quality of life of the residents. A main focus of the community work is the constant development of green in the form of trees, hedges and micro-biotopes.
Alternative energies are used in the form of geothermal systems in all public buildings and in several private households. Photovoltaic systems are also on the advance and are receiving positive attention
The municipality of Bröbberow is 15 km and 20 minutes by car south of Rostock, 7 km from the BAB 20 (Baltic Sea motorway Hamburg - Stettin), 14 km from the BAB 19 (Berlin - Rostock-Überseehafen) and 20 km to the west Rostock-Laage Airport.
Since we rely on long-term sustainable concepts, the entire road and path network has been renovated in recent years as part of a land consolidation process. Our local companies can quickly reach the cities of Rostock, Berlin and Hamburg, and our residents and guests are at the sea in 25 minutes.
Good shopping and dining options are only 4 km away in the town of Schwaan, as are the S-Bahn to Rostock or Güstrow, the school, the town hall, a sports hall and a boat landing stage on the Warnow.

In the district of Groß Grenz, a sport, game and festival area was built or renovated. The community center with the »kindergarten for 99 places was opened on June 1, 2005. It also offers space for community events and for young people, seniors, sports groups or similar initiatives.
The municipality of Bröbberow has been redeveloped in essential areas in recent years and has changed its image very pleasantly. In future, however, more efforts must be made to ensure the performance of the community. Here ideas and activities are needed that go beyond what is currently available. The development of the last few years has shown us that, on the one hand, financial resources were very important in order to make up the gap of decades, but that the social commitment of the people in your environment is indispensable.
